The tops of the leaves a glaucous blue whilst the bottom can range from fire red to almost black, this gives it a powerful contrast. Each leaf is covered in tiny hairs that give a little protection from cold weather and high sun. The flowers are a real feature, being held on strong compact stems and are of yellow
